Makers of Parchi and Janaan venture into media production and promotion in Saudi Arabia

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) The makers of Pakistanî blockbuster films Janaan(2016) & Parchi(2018), Imran Raza Kazmi, Hareem Farooq and Arif Lakhani, under the banner of IHA Entertainment recently signed a contract with Top Events Company for the promotion and production of Pakistani cinema, television and entertainment content in the Kingdom.

This joint venture between the two companies will encourage the collaboration for film and drama production, distribution in Saudi Arabia ensuring the promotion of Pakistani talent worldwide. The agreement was signed between Prince Abdul Aziz of Top Events Company and Imran Raza Kazmi of IHA Entertainment, parent company of IRK Films.

“We want Pakistani drama, film and talent to be promoted in Saudi Arabia as well and this contract between the 2 countries will bring betterment in terms of media relationships” stated Prince Abdul Aziz.

“It’s an honor for us to collaborate with Saudi Arabia for the better promotion of Pakistani films and dramas. IRK films will produce the dramas whereas IHA Entertainment will do events like concerts, comedy nights shows, distribution of films in the Kingdom. IRK films will also consider casting talent from across the world in their new ventures and this step will promote the softer side of Pakistan to the world” stated Imran Raza Kazmi.

“It is an extreme honour for me as an individual to be one of the first female actor to have my work, Parchi, showcased in Saudia Arabia,” comments Hareem Farooq. “With this agreement we look forward to creating more opportunities for the amazing work that comes out of Pakistan to be showcased to a new audience pool, which is just game-changing.”

GE Renewable Energy & Artistic Milliners commission new 50 MW Wind Farm in Jhimpir ahead of schedule

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) GE Renewable Energy [GE: NYSE] and Artistic Milliners have officially commissioned the flagship ‘Artistic Energy (Pvt.) Ltd.’ wind farm in the Gharo-Keti Bandar Wind Corridor in Jhimpir, Sindh, a project which will help Pakistan expand its renewable energy production in line with its Vision 2025 goals. To this end, GE provided 29, 1.7-103 wind turbines to the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, Power China, for implementation, in addition to 10 years of operations and maintenance services as part of the contract.

The U.S. Agency for International Development and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory estimate that Pakistan has over 132 gigawatts (GW) of wind energy capacity. The generation of wind energy also contributes to the goal of the Government of Pakistan under Vision 2025 to increase the percentage of indigenous sources of power generation to over 50 percent.

Dr. Manar Al Moneef, General Manager GE Renewable Energy Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, said: “The Gharo-Keti Bandar Wind Corridor in Jhimpir is fast becoming a hub for domestic wind energy production and job creation. With an abundant supply of wind, which has more than 100 GW electricity generation potential, GE continues to broaden the renewable energy footprint in Pakistan, as this indigenous source helps to provide alternative and sustainable sources of energy. We remain firmly committed to driving growth in Pakistan, ensuring a consistent and reliable flow of energy to millions of people.”

GE’s 1.7-103 high-performing wind turbine provides up to 30 percent increase in annual energy production (AEP) compared to its predecessor, with an increase in blade swept area and 91m hub height, that allows for greater energy capture and improved project economics for wind developers and operators, while maintaining required levels of efficiency, reliability and grid-connection capabilities. GE has been providing advanced wind turbines for the development of wind power plants in the Jhimpir corridor in Thatta district, adding more power to the national grid. The new wind farm further underlines the tremendous potential of Pakistan in using wind power.

Yaqoob Ahmed, Chairman of Artistic Milliners, said: “There is great scope in Pakistan for the cleaner, low-cost energy that wind provides. We are proud to work with GE in setting up this flagship wind power project. The project has been executed flawlessly, with COD achieved in 15 months from contract signing and three months ahead of schedule. The hub height of wind turbines at the Artistic Energy is 91m, making it the most efficient wind farm in the country with regards to output. The project is now feeding much needed power to the national grid in meeting the urgent energy needs of the country before the peak summer season.”

GE Renewable Energy is one of the world’s leading wind turbine suppliers, with more than 30,000 wind turbines installed globally. GE is focused on supporting Pakistan’s socio-economic growth, with technologies that generate more than 1/3 of the country’s electricity.

The 50 MW project is the sixth in Pakistan to feature GE’s advanced wind turbines, following the agreement to provide and install 87-units to largest 150 MW wind farm in Pakistan last year.

Emirates introduces Home Check-in in Dubai

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) – Emirates has introduced Home Check-in, a new service which allows customers to check in for their flights from anywhere in Dubai. The service is available for customers across all classes travelling on Emirates flights.

The new service enables Emirates passengers to complete the security check and check-in from the comfort of their home, hotel or office and have their luggage transported to the airport prior to their flight. An Emirates check-in agent will arrive at the preferred location to weigh and tag the bags as well as check-in the customers and issue boarding passes. Customers can then make their own way to the airport and head directly to immigration, bypassing the check-in desks at the airport.

The service is available for AED 350 per trip for up to 7 pieces of luggage. AED 35 will be charged for each additional piece of luggage. Customers can book the service on emirates.com up to 12 hours before flight departure time. This latest initiative is part of the Emirates’ ongoing commitment to provide world class products and services for a more convenient travel experience.

Emirates has been running trials for its Home Check-in service since October to ensure that the customer experience and security checks are faultless. The service seals each bag and stores them in a separate hold in the van. Emirates Home Check-in will be operated with a new fleet of vans.

The new Home Check-in offering complements other luggage handling services already available for Emirates flights in Dubai. For a seamless travel experience, customers can pay for a concierge service to handle their luggage at the airport, enjoy preferred rates for pre-paid excess baggage, and bag wraps to protect their luggage.

Pepsi, fashion brands to launch clothing line

TCF calls on all Pakistanis to raise their hands for Education

It also signifies the curiosity and will to do better as raising hand is a strong part of school culture synonymous with learning.”

TCF is considered one of the most transparent and trustworthy not-for-profit organizations in Pakistan. Established in 1995, TCF has created a far reaching impact by providing low-cost education to the less privileged children with an aim to create agents of positive change. Today, TCF is educating 220,000 children in its nation-wide network of almost 1,482 schools located in the heart of rural communities and urban slums. A strong believer in equal opportunities, TCF ensures that 50% of all student enrolment is represented by girls. TCF has been mentioned by ‘The Economist’ as perhaps the largest network of independently run not-for-profit schools in the world. Additionally, employing around 12,000 women as an all-female faculty makes it the largest private sector women employer in Pakistan.

In the matric results 2016-17, the pass rate for TCF students was 96%, while there was a remarkable increase in the percentage of students securing A+ and A grades, from 48% percent the year before to 64% in 2017.
