SeePrime hosted an event for its upcoming ensemble film ‘Teri Meri Kahaniyaan’ at Avari Hotels, Karachi, on Friday, June 2nd, 2023. The occasion marked the first screening of the film’s captivating trailer, offering a glimpse of what the anthology, romance film will entail. Hosted by renowned writer, Vasay Chaudhry, the event was studded with many of the industry’s creative geniuses, celebrities and media.

Directed by three prominent figures of the Pakistani film industry, Nabeel Qureshi, Nadeem Baig, and Marina Khan, ‘Teri Meri Kahaaniyaan’ weaves together multiple love stories, capturing the essence of romance in all its forms. The anthology promises to be an unforgettable experience for viewers as the talented cast of Mehwish Hayat, Wahaj Ali, Sheheryar Munawar, Ramsha Khan, Hira Mani, Mani, Zahid Ahmed, and Amna Ilyas come together to grace the screens.

A Cinematic Journey Across Europe: European Film Festival Returns to Five Cities across Pakistan.

Pakistan (Muhammad Yasir) Film enthusiasts from the twin cities and four other cities across Pakistan will get a unique opportunity to discover European cinema at the second European Film Festival, commencing on 2nd June 2023 at the Pakistan National Council of Arts in Islamabad.

The film festival will take place in five cities across Pakistan – including Islamabad, Multan, Gilgit, Peshawar and Quetta – from 2nd to 24th June 2023.

The European Film Festival is a celebration of cinema that brings together filmmakers, actors and cinema enthusiasts. It provides a unique opportunity for Pakistani audiences to discover the rich and diverse world of European cinema and get a glimpse into the cultural and social issues that shape modern European societies.

Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan, H.E. Dr Riina Kionka explained: “In the EU, we actively support filmmaking as an art form and a medium to address important topics that our societies are grappling with today. Cinema provides an opportunity to dive into the worlds and minds of characters who live very different lives than ours. It allows us to see the world through different eyes, develop compassion and respect for others.”

The festival showcases a selection of unique and thought-provoking films that are best experienced with fellow movie enthusiasts. The screenings include feature films and short films on various topics such as gender equality, relations between generations, embracing diversity, climate change and human rights. Many of the films shown are co-productions made possible through collaborations of professionals and organisations from different European countries. In Islamabad, the feature film ‘Any Day Now’ (Ensilumi) is a story of a family that stands together in love – amidst an uncertain future.

The screenings will be followed by panel discussions by renowned Pakistani filmmakers, actors, writers and academics to reflect on topics of relevance and various styles of storytelling. In Islamabad, Sarmad Khoosat, Sania Saeed and Saim Sadiq will talk about the democratization of traditional media and film making through social media, in a discussion moderated by Tamkenat Mansoor.  

The festival also provides a unique opportunity for aspiring Pakistani filmmakers to learn producing creative narratives under the training of award-winning filmmaker Kanwal Khoosat through a series of master classes.
Another interesting feature of the festival is interactive installations, including dubbing and video compositing booths, and a tribute to 75 years of Pakistani cinema titled ‘Manduva’ curated by Sarmad Khoosat in association with the Lahore Biennale Foundation.

The second European Film Festival (EUFF) 2023 is open to the public and will be held at various venues including Universal Cinemas on 4th June in Multan, Karakoram International University on 10th June in Gilgit, Nishtar Hall on 17th June in Peshawar, and Noori Naseer Khan Cultural Complex on 24th June in Quetta.

The festival is curated and organized by Olomopolo Media, a leading platform for cultural and creative expression through performing arts and visual media as tools for social awareness, sensitization and advocacy and awareness with the aim to create room for collective ethical development and socio-cultural sophistication.

Renowned actress and host Seemab Muzaffar will soon return to the Pakistani showbiz industry and participate in other cultural activities including TV dramas. While talking to the media, she has said that she could not participate in Pakistani dramas and other projects due to being based in the United States. Now I have received offers again, which I have accepted. Very soon I will participate in projects with major productions of Pakistan, while I have also received an offer to host programs from some channels. I am still trying to be a part of a good project. she said that in the past, I had participated in Shadi Online as a host with Pakistan’s legendary host, writer, writer Mustansar Hussain Tarrar, who was on air for more than three years, while Khabarnak , acted in political theatre, Dunya GT Road, while drama serial, other award winning dramas including legendary actors Abid Ali, Irfan Khost, Jameel Fakhri, Sania. It was a pleasant experience working with renowned artists including Syed, Sarmad Khost, Sohail Sameer, Nadia Afgan.

That this is my effort to highlight Pakistan’s culture and showbiz industry at the international level, I am still trying to introduce my cultural activities in Hollywood, for which discussions are ongoing with some Hollywood companies, hopefully soon from there. Ajoka Institute presented new dramatic work by its students at an enjoyable event held on Saturday at the Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture.
The function was attended by a large group of theatre supporters including writing and acting students of Ajoka Institute.

The programme started with dramatic reading of new writings by Ajoka’s Art of Writing students, developed during their 3-month long course. The writings included “Kis Baat Ki Tauba” by Shehnaz Nasr, “Seeker with a Scar” by Sheharyar Mehdi, “Cheers” by Norez Khan Lashari and ” Anatomy of an Accident” by Sufia Humayun. Students who joined in the readings included Fizza Tirmizi, Rai Ali, Husnain, Ayesha and Aanish.

The readings were followed by a performance of shirt play,  “Mind-blowing”, by the art of acting students. The script was written by Art of Writing student Sanawar Iqbal and actors included Zeeshan Mubarak, Fizza Tirmizi, Samawia Zaman, Anum Arshad, Adil Hussain, Abdul Rehman, Ahmed Mushtaq and Ch. Aqib .

The story of the play revolved around a psychologist’s clinic and strange treatment offered to the patients.

At the end, certificates were distributed to the  students of writing and acting courses by Institute Director Nirvaan Nadeem, who congratulated their students for their lively and competent presentations. He also thanked PILAC for its support.

Ajoka will be presenting “Mind-blowing” and “Bulha te Banda” on Saturday 27 May at the ongoing Alhamra Theatre Festival in Hall 2.

Mehwish Hayat will be appearing in her umpteenth project with Nadeem Baig alongside the modern-day Pakistan heartthrob Wahaj Ali in his silver screen debut. Industry icon Zahid Ahmed strikes a brooding figure alongside celebrated model and actress Amna Ilyas, joined by the never-before-seen on-screen couple, Sheheryar Munawar and Ramsha Khan. Lastly, the people’s favorite husband-wife duo, Hira and Mani will be appearing together for the first time.

“Teri Meri Kahaniyaan”, which is to be released on Eid-ul-Adha by Distribution Club (IMGC) will be a creative collaboration by renowned Pakistani storytellers Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, Vasay Chaudhry, Ali Abbas Naqvi & Basit Naqvi. The film combines the directorial vision of Nabeel Qureshi, Nadeem Baig and will be silver screen directorial debut of veteran actress, director, and producer Marina Khan who has many successful TV serials to her name.

Green Entertainment has officially released the first look for its upcoming show Tumharey Husn Kay Naam today. The series will narrate a journey of love that fights social cliches such as background and class to prove their unwavering bond. The programme features Saba Qamar and Imran Abbas as leads, joining them in the cast are Asad Siddiqui and Sidra Niazi.

Conceptualised by Ayesha Mian, the play has been directed by Saqib Khan and written by Umera Ahmed including Sarah Qayyum. Presented under the banner of Eyeconic Media in association with Multiverse Entertainment, the series production has been carried out by Misbah Shafique and Imran Raza.
