Simulators provided to Punjab TEVTA for skill development

Lahore (Nut Desk) The donor-funded Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Sector Support Programme (SSP) has handed over seven digital learning aids/ simulators to the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Mughalpura, which is an institute of the Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA).

The learning aids were produced by the graduates trained under the workplace-based training model in Sindh under TVET SSP. The Mughalpura CoE, where the handing over ceremony was held, has also been upgraded with the support of TVET SSP.

A total of 51 simulators have been produced with the support of TVET SSP in 4 institutes in Sindh. A total of 23 simulators will be delivered to Punjab TEVTA institutes in Lahore, Okara, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Gujrat, Lodhran and Sargodha. Private sector enterprises have played a key role in research and development, assembling as well as quality assurance of the simulators during the production process. These learning aids/ simulators will be vital for competency-based training delivery in automobile, HVAC, electrical and renewable energy related trades.

The event was attended by development partners, stakeholders from the public and private sectors, staff of the CoE and media representatives. The TVET SSP is funded by the EU, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Norwegian Embassy and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the NAVTTC.

Speaking at the ceremony, in her welcome remarks, Ms Iris Cordelia Rotzoll, Head of TVET SSP, said, “The innovative ways of promotion of TVET reforms in Pakistan is our key success factor. After a decade of operations in Pakistan, we can now clearly witness the progress by seeing TVET through competency-based training methods becoming the mainstream in the technical education arena of Pakistan. We can surely say that Pakistan is on the right path for TVET reforms”.

Speaking at the ceremony, First Secretary, Team Leader Governance and Education, European Union Delegation to Pakistan, Mr Sven RUESCH said, “The EU Delegation in Pakistan has been supporting the promotion of technical and vocational skills learning and policy reforms for more than a decade now. Our assistance to the TVET sector in Pakistan exceeds 90 million Euros and we aim to continue our support in the coming years.”

In his closing remarks, CEO Punjab TEVTA Akhtar Abbas Bharwana said the TEVTAs, in close collaboration with the TVET SSP, are equipping many young people with competency-based training and preparing them for employment opportunities for skilled workers. With the help of this learning aid in the form of simulators, young men and women can come forward and learn innovative skills.

ICOM Pakistan organized a panel discussion to mark the International Museum Day on 18th of May 2022 at Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore. The event began with an opening note by the Principal of Kinnaird College Dr Rukhsana David who is also the Chair of ICOM Pakistan. She gave a short history of ICOM and museums in general.


She shared that each year there is a theme for the International Museum Day and this year it was the Power of Museums. This year the idea is to try bring about a positive change in the community through three lenses:
The power of achieving sustainability, the power of digital innovation and accessibility and the power of community building through education.
She said it was indeed heartening to have museum professionals on the panel to discuss and share their knowledge about museums.

Dr.Christina Menegazzi , a professional on heritage and museums delivered a talk followed by the panel discussion with former Director Lahore Museum, Dr. Saif ur Rehman Dar, Dr. Muhammad Hameed, head of Archaeology Department , Punjab University and Mr. Mujeeb Khan, keeper of pre –Islamic art collection at Lahore Museum.

Students, faculty and guests showed a keen interest in the panel discussion on museums and appreciated Kinnaird College for Women and ICOM Pakistan to have arranged this very interesting and informative session on museums.

Mr. Liu Gui praised the industry leaders and partners during his keynote speech, “I would like to thank our customers and partners, with your trust, Huawei has won more than 1100 new customers globally in 2022. In Pakistan, customers, the government, finance and education ministry have all started the journey of digital transformation together with Huawei. This would have not been possible without the important infrastructure that is high quality IP network, which Huawei has committed to be on the forefront of globally and in Pakistan.”

Mr. Shahzad Rasheed, talking about Huawei’s contribution and overcome of struggles to become the NO . 1 IP Company in Pakistanhe stated, “The core value of this company is openness and customer centricity, openness to the extent that moving forward, this IP Summit will be a vendor neutral event, where we will discuss the problems, challenges, solutions and the growth of IP. While addressing in this Summit, Director FIA, Mr. Ghayas Anwar, gave a brief introduction about FIA as an organization and discussed the network pain points they were previously facing, and why FIA needed to upgrade its network, “While other OEMs were trying to pitch us new solutions, Huawei’s dedicated team actually heard our real concerns and addressed our network pain points. FIA has found Huawei’s team to be a true technical advisor rather than just an equipment selling company, additionally the local team was always very cooperative with their customer-centric approach.”

Mr. Jahanzeb Arshad who has unique expertise at operational management of network solutions talked about Going Digital Faster with Wi-Fi 6, “Wi-Fi is everywhere, but there are still more than 33% people who are still dissatisfied with their Wi-Fi speed. The previous generations of Wi-Fi were not able to solve this challenge. However, Wi-Fi 6, the latest standard which matured at the end of 2020 was found capable by companies like Huawei as the way forward which is why we have lots of these devices available in the market. We, as a telecom operator started providing Wi-Fi AP’s since last year, providing Huawei Access Devices to our customers.”

The next session by Mr. Farhan Haider, a renowned expert who aced complex network handlingand was instrumental in determining the course for industry growth as the CTO at Wateen,addressed Cloud-Network Express Inspiring B2B New Growth. He stated on the occasion, “I’d like to thank Huawei for arranging this Summit where all of the country’s experts have gathered to discuss robust solutions and the development of IP.” He also stated, “With the rise virtual reality, the processing speeds of the cloud VR can’t meet the needs of the user. With the digital transformation of the industry, more and more enterprises place services on the cloud.”

Mr. Faizan Mahmood during his presentation about the role of IP in the digitalization of Pakistan stated, “Companies like Huawei, started the concept of the public cloud in Pakistan, which subsequently also brought in private cloud, which changed the ecosystem, we moved from a PC Era to a Cloud Era, this change was also accelerated because of Covid-19. The conversation has moved from talking about virtualizing our servers to talking about virtualizing our networks as well. Connectivity can now happen from anywhere.”

Mr. Hamid Mohiuddin, a seasoned ICT mentor and an integral part of the advancement of technology in the industry was called to talk about the future trends in the IP Industry, “AI is going to impact every corner of the society, not just one or two industry, machine learning and deep learning are both part of artificial intelligence. In the future, Internet of Things will grow as 5G grows. Cloud Computing has gotten attraction in both first world countries as well as in Pakistan, and I can see it growing further, especially with companies like Huawei at the Helm of this development.”

Mr. Badar Farooq, Senior Solution Architect discussed Autonomous Driving Network (ADN) and how ADN can resolves the TCO structure problems of telecom networks with system-level innovations. ADN utilizes network automation, AI, and digital twin technologies to simplify networks and operation, helping operators improve network quality, as well as increase efficiency and Agile Business.

Mr. Waqar Fazal, An IP Guru who has scaled the heights of technological breakthroughs throughout his career. Mr. Waqar holds multiple industry certifications on diverse technologies in the field of IP. He discussed the very exiting topic, “Segment Routing IPv6” (SRv6) which is a next-generation IP bearer protocol that combines Segment Routing (SR) and IPv6. Utilizing existing IPv6 forwarding technology, SRv6 implements network programming through flexible IPv6 extension headers.

Lahore (Nut DeskPUBG MOBILE, one of the world’s most popular mobile games, has officially released its new Version 2.0 Update, packed with new additions to PUBG MOBILE’s iconic maps, alongside a new limited-time game mode featuring the fearsome Angel from acclaimed anime EVANGELION, additional in-game security features to counter cheating and so much more.

In addition to the recent overhaul of the environmental redesign showcasing new combat strategies, the new ‘Core Circle’ game mode has now made its way to Livik and Erangel. Players can watch EVA-01’s face off against EVANGELION’s 6th Angel in a special event running from May 19th to June 19th in Erangel.

At the beginning of the match, a golden resource-rich area will spawn in a random urban area, allowing players to grab as many supplies as they can! Not to mention a great assemblage of mini games and items, such as Random Crates, some of which contain more valuable resources below ground level, can be tracked down with Treasure Maps. Players can also enjoy Blomster’s in-game Soccer Challenge, and a quick means of escape with the map’s new Zipline, and finally, a limited-time Respawn period that lets players retain their weapons.

Players will then start off in a special shrunken Blue Zone at the beginning of each match, as they witness the 6th Angel’s appearance on Spawn Island firing a powerful laser. Players can follow the action by finding EVA-01’s spawn point on the mini-map and observing the Angel’s deadly path forward.

Starting from May 14th to June 19th, players will be able to grab a number of new exclusive EVANGELION collaboration items, from the iconic character plugsuits to themed armour and parachutes to backpacks. A special buddy will also be landing in the game for players to partner with.

Airdrops come once a match in a designated area, while Recall Towers are dotted across Livik for players to revive their lost teammates. Lying beneath it all is Livik’s volcano, which may erupt at any given moment – hide from its wrath by dodging its explosions and sheltering in buildings! All this content and more lands in Livik today.

New season, new Royale Pass Month

On May 19th, a new season comes to PUBG MOBILE! A new batch of Legendary rewards are available for Cycle 2 Season 6, including themed Glasses, Parachute, Mask and much more. Players can enjoy the Classic Mode to gain Exploration Progress, which can also be exchanged for Evangelion themed rewards. The tier system has also been adjusted, as more sub-tiers have been added within the Gold, Bronze and Silver tiers.

Other exciting additions
