Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) The Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) is set to arrange education a two-day Expo at Sutluj Hall Avari Hotel Lahore on 3^rd and 4^th September for the benefit of students who are aspiring for higher studies abroad. As many as 10 leading universities of Malaysia have been invited to participate in the expo.

In a statement issued on Thursday here, EMGS CEO Mr. Mohd Radzlan bin Jalaludin disclosed that the event is will be an ideal opportunity for Pakistani students, faculty and counselors to meet the Malaysian govt and universities representatives directly and discuss their study and visa options.

Mr. Mohd Radzlan bin Jalaludin said the students will be able to seek visa guidance directly from the Malaysian government officials. He said that the participating universities are offering generous scholarships up-to 50 per cent and tuition fee waivers to the Pakistani students. 

He said that the enrolled students would have an option to get the US, UK and Australia degree at one-third the cost in Malaysia and with the option to transfer to UK or Australia to complete their degree.

Besides, he added that the students could also get a dual degree from leading international universities while completing their studies in Malaysia, where the per month living expense for students is quite similar to what they spend in Pakistan. He said that Malaysia being a Muslim country is especially safe for girls for studies and work alike.  

Education Malaysia Global Services is a company under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. It is also the principal body that manages the movement of international students in Malaysia, including facilitating visa processing.

Education Malaysia Global Services is working hard to make Malaysia a global education hub of choice and ensure the welfare of all international students who want to study in Malaysia. EMGS plans to regularly hold education expos so that more and more Pakistani students could benefit from study options in Malaysia, he concluded.

Islamabad (Muhammad Yasir) The Acting High Commissioner of Malaysia, Deddy Faisal bin Ahmad Salleh on 30 August 2022 launched the Study In Malaysia Education Fair in Islamabad.

In his remarks, Deddy Faisal bin Ahmad Salleh stated that Malaysia has become one of the most preferable study destinations by the Pakistani students as it is house of the world’s leading institutes. Offering a degree that is well-recognised globally, Malaysian universities rank in the world’s top universities and a total of 13 in the top 600 according to QS World University Rankings 2023. Based on QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022, 10 Malaysian programmes were placed among the top 50 universities for the study of their academic subject.

The envoy added that Malaysia also offers affordability in many areas, from food, travelling, transportation and the tuition fees. The average total tuition fees per annum are approximately at US$ 4,400 for public universities & US$ 4,970 for private universities. Malaysia sits among one with the lowest cost, in which our Cost-of-Living Index is only 42.47.

Other consideration for choosing Malaysia as study destination is that Malaysia has safe, peaceful, and vibrant communities. Malaysia is currently ranked 20th in the world’s most peaceful country based on the 2020 Global Security Index (GPI) report, providing you a safe and secure environment for your study journey.

Lahore (Qasim Ali) Kinnaird Centre for Learning & Cultural Development, Kinnaird College for Women organized an enlightening conference on Digital Media and Communication. The conference was designed as a platform to facilitate Mass Media students, researchers, practitioners and policy makers in the field of Digital Media and Communication to interact and exchange ideas, discuss their works, opinions and dialogues.

Ms. Maha Jamil, Director Kinnaird Centre for Learning and Cultural Development welcomed the participants of the conference. In the inaugural speech, Maha Jamil said that the one day conference unites diverse researchers and presenters from all over Pakistan. She shared that communication is vital to life, yet it is largely ignored ever up to the level of disability Communication disabilities are significant and can affect every aspect of a person’s life. The United Nations Sustainable Development goals provide us with a unique opportunity to address this formidable reality.

Prominent speakers and professionals such as Mr. Khalid Chishti and Haseeb Khan graced the conference as guest speakers and put light on interesting topics such as Advertising, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Communication in Digital Media and Use of New Technology, International Communication for Sustainable Development. The distinguished speakers share their vision and way forward in the digital age of communication.

Executive director of KCLCD – Mr. Rizwan Anwar in his speech briefed that KCLCD has a special focus on training to provide quality work culturally to sustain professional growth and excellence. It provides women an opportunity to take on leadership roles through acquiring professional knowledge in their chosen fields. This conference is a part of the same process and it will help the participants to enlighten themselves with the latest practices and skills of digital media.

Thought provoking panel discussion on the latest advertising trends and international communication for sustainable development proved the highlight of the conference. Renowned speakers exchanged their thoughts with the participants and shared that advertising has emerged in new dimensions like digital marketing. It is important to learn how to communicate on digital media and then building public relations are the key to success in terms of marketing.

Dr. Ruksana David principal Kinnaird College thanked the participants for their valuable contributions. She distributed the certificates among all the speakers and participants. She said that Positive communications are the foundation of professional building relationships in both personal and professional lives. She vowed that Kinnaird College will arrange more such programs for exchange of ideas, research and promotion of knowledge in future.

 

Pakistan (Muhammad Yasir) British Council is partnering with Art South Asia Project (ASAP) and COMO Museum for a one day symposium of events, “Mastering Art and Research in Pakistan”, as part of its Pakistan/UK: New Perspectives Season, marking the 75th anniversary of Pakistan. The event aims to facilitate three research and professional development projects between Pakistan and the UK in 2022. The symposium consists of three workshops and panel discussion by project leaders, held at COMO Museum, Lahore.

New Perspectives showcases the cultural wealth and contemporary creativity of both countries, facilitating professional collaboration for culture, creative and education sectors, with a focus on a shared future through building lasting partnerships.

The three workshops hosted were “Challenges of Research” by Dr. Samina Iqbal and Professor Salima Hashmi, “Museums and the Self: Memories, Identities and Stories” by Sophia Balagamwala and Dr. Shaila Bhatti, and “ASAP presents Art Murmur: Professional Development in the Visual Arts” by Ambereen Siddiqui.

Nour Aslam, Executive Director ASAP said, “Art South Asia Project is excited to be partnering with the British Council Pakistan to present Mastering Art & Research in Pakistan with COMO Museum, Lahore. We are extremely grateful to Seher Tareen, Founder of COMO Museum, Lahore, for hosting ASAP’s first in person event in South Asia. Thanks to the partnership with the British Council, we have identified the urgent need for artists and academics within Pakistan to be able to collaborate on research and knowledge sharing. This is attested to by the popularity of the workshops and panel discussion for this event. We hope these workshops will produce ongoing partnerships amongst the participants with and without ASAP’s facilitation.”

Following the workshops, a panel discussion was organized, rounding off the day with a discussion between each of the project leaders in the talk, “From Art School to Research: A Guide Towards Navigating Through the Arts.” In conversation with the ASAP team, each project leader discussed how to best approach a career in the field of modern and contemporary South Asian art, helping to map out clear paths for artistic practitioners, whose interests lean more towards research, curating and other roles, rather than solely becoming a visual artist.

Mariya Afzal, Director Pakistan/UK New Perspectives, British Council Pakistan said, “The British Council is pleased to be part of this research and capacity building initiative with Arts South Asia Project. Through this work we aimed to give young artists, curators and researches the opportunity to identify and subsequently fill gaps in research in the arts, something which is not commonly available to them. This is also a great occasion for them to form linkages with their peers in the UK, learning from and sharing knowledge and ideas from the best in the field, locally and globally.

Mastering Art and Research in Pakistan will help build innovative partnerships in the field of art between Pakistan and UK.

 

 

Lahore (Qasim Ali)  PILAC complex was abuzz with excited and talented kids last Friday. The occasion was the end of course event of Ajoka’svArt of Acting-Kids Edition. Two batches of children presented extracts from Ajoka plays for children, “The Last Tree “ and “Band Gali Kay Bachay”, both on environmental themes. The performances had been mentored by Institute Director Nirvaan Nadeem alongwith trainers Yusra Irfan and Nida Malik. The children’s energetic performances were followed by dramatic readings of four original scripts developed by Art of Writing students under the mentorship of Shahid Nadeem. The new writers included Sania Umair, Sameen Rafaqat, Obien Mayo, Sunia Dar, Umair Ismail . They were assisted by Ajoka acting and writing students including Fizza Tirmizi, Fahad Amir, Hassan Zaidi and Anam Jalil. The event, was held in collaboration with the Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture. The PILAC Director General and note writer, Dr. Sughra Sadaf distributed certificates to the students of Ajoka Institute. She appreciated the contribution of Ajoka in grooming new talent. Parents were overwhelmed with joy upon seeing their children perform with confidence, in front of a houseful audience. “It was a successful event with a humbling experience for the Ajoka team”, said Director Nirvaan Nadeem Ajoka’s Art of Acting students are rehearsing a play “Jhalli” which will be staged very soon. The new courses for writers, actors and children start in September and admissions are still open.
