PepsiCo enables access to safe water for 100,000 citizens in Karachi

Karachi (Muhammad Yasir) More than one hundred thousand people in Karachi to benefit from newly inaugurated water filtration plant at Pak Colony Karachi. Eugene Willemsen PepsiCo CEO Africa, Middle East and South Asia inaugurated the water filtration facility that was commissioned with the help of the international non-government organization, WaterAid, with funding from PepsiCo Foundation, the philanthropic arm of PepsiCo. Country Director WaterAid Pakistan, Arif Jabbar was present at the inauguration ceremony.

The water filtration plant enables access to safe water for 100,000 citizens. The water facility has the capacity of filtering 50,000 liters of water every day. Clean water is served to multiple communities through 6 distribution points. Water access has been extended to three educational institutions in the vicinity of the facility. A water user committee have been formed to oversee the operation and maintenance of the water filtration plant. An integral part of the program has been community sensitization on hygiene, water safety and water conservation. 300 children were trained on hygiene promotion through interactive sessions competitions.

PepsiCo’s ‘Access to safe water’ program is supporting the Government’s Clean Green Pakistan initiative aimed at environmental sustainability by providing access to safe water to 200,000 people in the urban underserved areas of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

PepsiCo has set an ambitious new target to expand safe water access to 100 million people by 2030 with an immediate-term focus on supporting water distribution, sanitation, and hygiene practices.

BARD Foundation to support tennis phenomenon Mahin Aftab to kick start her pro career

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood (BARD) Foundation will be supporting Pakistan’s tennis phenomenon Mahin Aftab Qureshi with her Pro-Career at the world-renowned Barcelona Tennis Academy in Spain.

A special ceremony was recently held where BARD foundation’s senior management signed the formal contract to support the 20-year-old tennis player, who was accompanied by her father, Aftab Sadiq Qureshi. The ceremony was also graced by the honorable members of the Foundation’s, Board of Governors including Taimur Dawood, Faisal Dawood, Farooq Nazir and Ijaz Ali Khan, along with senior staff from the BARD foundation.

“At BARD, support is available for young athletes so they can unearth their true potential and shine on an international platform. Mahin is one of Pakistan’s most promising young tennis players with an array of accomplishments to her name. However, getting to the top in any sport can be an expensive endeavor and we are very happy to step in to help her progress further” said Taimur Dawood Member Board of Governors BARD Foundation.

In 2015, Mahin became the first-ever female tennis player of Pakistan to claim a singles international tennis title by winning the Asian Under-14 tournament. She later went on to win the Under-16 tournament held by the Barcelona Federation in 2016. At the age of 15, she created history by winning four titles (Ladies singles, Ladies doubles, Mixed doubles and Pakistan junior title) in Subh e Nau Tennis Championships in PTF Islamabad.

Mahin’s impressive performance continued at the 2019 SAF games where she won a bronze medal. However, following a serious injury to her right wrist, Mahin had to take a little break; she is now fully recovered and enrolled in the world-renowned Barcelona Tennis Academy to get back in the game and kick-start her pro-career. As the Academy’s student she will be given strength and conditioning sessions, incorporating speed, agility, and weights, in between on-court sessions. Mahin will work with the best coaches, fitness trainers, and sport psychologists.

The BARD Foundation is a venture undertaken by Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood to enable less fortunate individuals to realise their potential as champions in their chosen field. The Foundation’s primary goal is Changing Fortunes with a special focus on Education and Sports. Another is people development through skills. One such initiative of the Foundation is Descon Technical Institute, which imparts vocational skills to enable individuals to change their lives for themselves and their families.

The Award, which recognizes OPPO for its Hinge & Display Integration on Find N, was announced during a virtual ceremony co-hosted by Sasha Twining and Justin Springham from Mobile World Live and streamed to audiences around the globe via LinkedIn.

Jazz appoints Atyab Tahir as CEO JazzCash

Ghabrana Nahi Hai Trailer Takes The Internet By Storm

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) Leading film production house JB Films officially launched its trailer for the star-studded film ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’. The trailer unravels much more about the storyline than the previous teaser which was released in December 2021. As seen in the official clip, several characters have their own unique identity but are essential to the plot. The film in itself features renowned superstars including Saba Qamar, Zahid Ahmed, Syed Jibran, Sohail Ahmed, Nayyer Ejaz, Afzal Khan Rambo, and Saleem Mairaj amongst an array of other esteemed actors. The film is directed by Saqib Khan, produced by Jamil Baig & Hassan Zia while the storyline was developed by Hassan Zia, Saqib Khan, and Mohsin Ali. The official trailer was released at 6pm on the 12th of March 2022.

The film stars the fan-favourite actress Saba Qamar and the superbly talented Zahid Ahmed who will be making his debut on the big screen for the very first time. ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’ also marks the debut of versatile actor Syed Jibran on the silver screen. Seasoned actors Sohail Ahmed, Nayyer Ejaz, Afzal Khan (Rambo), Saleem Meraj also star in pivotal roles as well thus rounding off a stellar cast.   

The trailer of ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’ starts with a bustling wedding scene with Saba Qamar narrating in the background. It seems that her character will be the lead of the show. The scene cuts to Zahid Ahmed who is later revealed to be a police officer. Of course, no storyline is complete without an antagonist as Nayyer Ejaz plays the gangster villain who everyone is afraid of. Adding a bit of comedy to the love triangle between Saba Qamar and Zahid Ahmed, Syed Jibran appears to be the hopeless romantic who also pursues the leading lady in whatever way he can.

The highly anticipated film has already gauged the attention of audiences nationwide and seeing the characters in action further sparked curiosity across the board. The storyline further emphasizes how the narrative can be perceived in multiple genres including a mix of drama, comedy, and thrill with a side of the ultimate battle between right vs wrong. Several ups and downs can be presumed due to certain clashes in personality but the full story can only be known when the film is out.

‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’ would mark JB Films’ first-ever feature film production and it already holds a lot of promise with a fun-filled storyline alongside elements of drama, action, and comedy. Several renowned celebrities have already expressed their excitement for the upcoming movie and fans have been quite vocal about their anticipation as well. The film will officially be released nationwide in cinemas theatre on Eid ul Fitr 2022.

TECNO to launch its new Spark phone in Pakistan soon

AAA Associates hosted brunch to honored the London journalist of Media Cricket Club

The English Journalists players met with the Chairman AAA Associates Mr. Fawad Bashir, MD AAA Associates Lt. Col. Shahzad Ali Kiani (r), CEO AAA Builder Mr. Farooq Bashir, Country Head AAA Associates Mr. Umer Shaukat and Head of Communication AAA Associates Mr. Shazad Sikandar.

Kits were awarded to the English team, and souvenirs were exchanged between AAA Associates and England Journalists Cricket Team as a token of remembrance. Interactive Learning Session held on International Women’s Day at Meezan Bank

Karachi (Muhammad Yasir) Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s first and largest Islamic bank held a learning session titled ‘The Glorious Role of Women in Islam’ for the female staff members of the Bank on International Women’s Day at its Head Office, Karachi. Alimah Sobia Hasan, Co-founder and Director at Maryam Institute – a non-commercial, non-political educational institute for women dedicated to classical Islamic learning and spirituality; conducted the talk on the importance of women seeking knowledge, spotlighting on the roles of great women in Islamic history. The event was attended by respective staff stationed in Karachi along with a live broadcast over Zoom across the country. Also present at the occasion were the organizing team headed by Mr. Khalid Zaman Khan – Group Head Human Resources and Learning & Development, Mr. Ahmed Ali Siddiqui – Group Head Shariah Compliance and Ms. Mehar Younus – Head Learning & Development from Meezan Bank.
