Careem to provide mobility solutions for women at Engro

Karachi (Muhammad Yasir) Careem, the Super App for the greater Middle East and Pakistan, has further expanded its corporate portfolio ‘Careem for Business’ (C4B) by joining hands with Engro Corporation, a premier conglomerate in Pakistan, to provide safe and hassle-free mobility solutions for women at Engro.

This collaboration is aimed at easing the commute to and from work for women at Engro as part of the Company’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Under the partnership, women at Engro, who are not entitled to a car benefit, will be allocated a monthly spend allowance of Rs 15,000 on the Careem account interface. This travel policy complements other policies and procedures introduced by Engro to create a gender diverse and inclusive leadership pipeline, workforce, and culture. Some of these initiatives include maternity and paternity leaves, and daycare solutions.

With the goal of providing safe, comfortable and affordable rides to individuals, Careem is strengthening its efforts of cutting down commuting hassles for corporate employees across the country.

Supernet Receives Rs. 659 million Bids through Book Building

Karachi (Muhammad Yasir) Supernet Limited has raised PKR 475 million through book-building at GEM Board of PSX. The process has concluded with an oversubscription of 1.4 times, the Company said on Wednesday. The total bids received are worth PKR 659 million while the strike price clocked in at Rs 22.50.

The first ever GEM Board listing of an IT company received an overwhelming response from institutional investors and, Roshan Digital Accounts holders and high-net worth individuals as the

Supernet has raised Rs 475 million in total, making it the largest IT listing at GEM Board of PSX.

Apart from local investors, foreign financial institutions also took keen interest in the initial offering of first IT company on GEM Board of PSX.

The issue consists of 21,111,121 Ordinary Shares, representing 18.81 per cent of the total post-offering paid up capital of Supernet of face value of Rs10 each.

The entire issue was offered through Book Building on April 12-13 at a Floor Price of Rs22.50 per share, including premium of Rs12.50 per share.

Super Net has been offered at FY22 PE of 6.7 vs Avg. IT sector PE of 22X, offering significant value to the investors.

This offering will help revive new listings at PSX once again. There is lot of demand for tech related stocks and that is why we saw higher than anticipated bids in the book building of SuperNet says Mohammed Sohail CEO of Topline Securities who acted as Advisor and Book Runner to the issue.

Karachi (Muhammad Yasir) Philip Morris Pakistan Limited (PMPKL’s) Innovation Lab Program (“Program”) came to an exciting conclusion – 9 teams made up of startups with the support of PMPKL employees participated in the grand finale pitches that took place on the 1st of April at the Movenpick hotel.

Having gone through rigorous Design Thinking and Prototyping sprints, followed by a semi-final pitch and lastly the final pitch, 3 teams stood out from the crowd. The first prize, PKR 800,000 and a trip to London Tech Week, went to team Yadgaar, the second prize, PKR 500,000 went to team Red Retail and the third prize, PKR 250,000 went to team Nucleus. The collaboration with the startup finalists and PMPKL will not end here – as the leadership will now be focusing on creating impact by deploying a chosen few of the proposed solutions with the startups.

The final pitch required the teams to build a prototype of their proposed solution and prove its viability and feasibility to a panel of judges. The panel of judges consisted of members of the leadership from PMPKL and startup ecosystem veterans.

Nestlé Pakistan’s publishes Creating Shared Value report highlighting its sustainability agenda

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) Nestlé Pakistan recently published its Creating Shared Value (CSV) Report for 2021, highlighting its sustainability agenda and commitments on climate action, sustainable packaging and water regeneration, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

 Sharing Nestlé’s Creating Shared Value philosophy, Samer Chedid, CEO, Nestlé Pakistan, said, “CSV remains the fundamental guiding principle for how we do business. We are able to deliver value for our shareholders and the communities in which we operate through our focus areas – individuals and families, our communities and the planet.”

Nestlé Pakistan continued with the Clean Gilgit and Hunza Project in partnership with Gilgit-Baltistan Waste Management Company and Karakoram Area Development Organization facilitating collection and recycling of more than 200 tons of plastic. The project focuses on waste segregation and recycling system to achieve a waste-free future and promote sustainable tourism in the region.

Nestlé is also proud to have continued to drive engagement to eliminate packaging waste with relevant stakeholders from the platform of CoRe (Collect & Recycle) – an alliance of like-minded organizations that will help move towards a circular economy.

 Preserving water resources is part of Nestlé’s legacy, while building on this heritage, Nestlé launched its new commitment called the Water Pledge in 2021 which builds on existing water stewardship efforts under the umbrella of Caring for Water-Pakistan (C4W-Pakistan) initiative launched in 2017. Under C4W, drip irrigation on 198 and installation of smart soil sensors on 455 acres has collectively helped an estimated water saving of 380,000 m3 of water, in line with UN SDG 6 and 17.

 In line with our bold commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Nestlé Pakistan helped farmers import high yield cows, which will improve farm efficiency by giving more milk per animal, thus reducing carbon emissions. Nestlé also planted 60,000 moringa trees, that have great carbon sequestration ability, in its daily value chain. Nestlé Pakistan also contributed to the installation of solar energy systems at dairy farms to encourage farmers to switch to renewable energy and helped with the installation of biogas digesters, which will reduce emissions resulting from cow dung.

Meezan Bank leads PKR 1 Billion Syndicated Islamic Finance Facility For 7 MW Solar Power Project

Meezan Bank led the transaction as the Mandated Lead Arranger and Pakistan Kuwait Investment Company (Private) Limited participated as the Co-Arranger. The transaction structure is based on State Bank of Pakistan’s Islamic Financing Facility for Renewable Energy (IFRE) and a commercial facility.

The solar power plant will be rented to Power Cement Limited under a twenty-year equipment rental agreement and the solar energy generated will be used by the company’s cement plant in Nooriabad. It will generate 220 GWh solar units for twenty years and in addition to reducing cost of electricity, will offset 112,000 tons of CO2 GHG emissions. The project is expected to start generation in July, 2022.

Legal counsel for the financiers were Mohsin Tayebaly & Co. while Kabraji & Talibuddin Advocates and Legal Counsels acted as BSEPL’s legal counsel. Orient Energy Systems (Private) Limited is the turnkey EPC contractor for the project.

Its new regional office building in Islamabad is also being designed to be Platinum Lead certified.
