MOL Pakistan Donation of PPE, Face Masks & Hand Sanitizer to District Administration Hangu

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company B.V. donated hand sanitizer and personal protective equipment (PPE) including face masks and disposable gowns to help tackle the third wave of the pandemic gripping the country.

MOL Pakistan was one of the first companies to respond to the pandemic by providing millions of rupees in funding for the setup of quarantine centers in Islamabad. Subsequently, throughout the pandemic, MOL Pakistan has donated thousands of PPE in order to help strengthen anti-pandemic efforts and to help support compliance with government issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) to contain the spread of coronavirus.

This particular donation of PPE and hand sanitizer was given to the District Administration of Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the company has operations. Mr. Hameed Ullah Shah, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hangu and Mr. Sardar Bahadar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Hangu appreciated and lauded MOL Pakistan’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

MOL Pakistan is a fully owned subsidiary of MOL Group, operating in the country since 1999. MOL Group Regional Vice President Middle East, Africa, and Pakistan, Mr. Ali Murtaza Abbas said, “As a socially responsible company we are with the people of Pakistan during these challenging times and continue to support anti-pandemic efforts in the fight against the spread of the virus in the country.”

Expo Center to continue vaccination drive for 24 hours

NUT (WEB DESK) In a bid to facilitate a speedy process of inoculation, the Punjab government on Saturday has decided to open its mass COVID-19 vaccination drive at Expo Center Lahore for 24 hours.

As per the issued details, deputy commissioner Lahore made the announcement saying that the vaccination at the Expo Center facility will continue for 24-hours. “Previously in Ramadan, the vaccination process was continuing in double shifts at the provincial vaccine centers,” he said.

The Punjab government decided to double staff at the vaccination centres established across the province in the wake of increasing COVID cases in early May.

While addressing in the media conference, she said, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid had said that vaccination staff is being doubled at the centres to cope with the prevailing situation of the pandemic. She had said that the number of vaccination centres was also being increased to facilitate the masses.

She went on to say that over 80,000 people are being vaccinated against the virus on a daily basis while the government is taking serious measures to curb the spread of the novel virus.

 

Shops, markets to stay open till 8pm from Monday: NCOC

NUT (WEB DESK) The National Command and Operations Center has decided to open all markets and shops from Monday.

It was decided in a meeting with Planning Minister Asad Umar in the chair held in Islamabad today (Saturday).

The meeting decided to allow shops and markets to remain

open till 8pm from Monday.

The forum also decided that all offices will resume normal working from Monday with 50 percent staff.It decided to restore inter-city and intra-city transport from tomorrow.Expressing satisfaction over implementation of SOPs, the forum decided to restore Pakistan Railways’ operations with 70 percent occupancy.

The NCOC will meet again on Wednesday to review the implementation of the corona SOPs.

Pakistan reports 2517 new COVID-19 cases, 48 deaths in 24 hours

  • According to the NCOC, 30,700 coronavirus tests were conducted in Pakistan over the last 24 hours while 48 people died from the virus.
  • So far, 3,997,186 have been vaccinated across the country since the start of the vaccination campaign.

On Friday, Pakistan reported 2,517 new coronavirus infections while the positivity rate across the country stood at 8.19%.

According to the NCOC, 30,700 coronavirus tests were conducted in Pakistan over the last 24 hours while 48 people died from the virus.On Thursday, NCOC announced that 113,302 were vaccinated against the virus in a single day.

So far, 3,997,186 have been vaccinated across the country since the start of the vaccination campaign.

As Pakistan grapples with the third coronavirus wave, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar recently warned that the next few weeks are critical for Pakistan. “Daily cases now exceed 9 lakhs, more than ever before. Daily deaths exceeding 15 thousand near the peak of jan 2021. The need for caution remains high. For Pakistan the next few weeks are critical,” he tweeted.

Pakistan has announced that it would open registration of the COVID-19 vaccines for people aged 30 years and above.

CM approves vaccination of journalists across Punjab

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Otherday approved recommendations of the Cabinet Committee for Corona to vaccinate the journalists across Punjab.

In this connection, the CM said that the media persons will be vaccinated on a priority basis after Eid. He asked the Punjab Health Department to take the necessary steps and the establishment of vaccination centres in press clubs should be reviewed.

Meanwhile, commenting on lockdown, the CM said that the decision to hold lockdown during the Eid holidays has been made in the larger public interest to save the citizens from corona disease. He asked the citizens to remain careful, as the line departments have been instructed to take action in case of any violation.

“The restrictions are aimed at saving the lives of the citizens and the situation will improve if precautions are fully observed, he added.

The Chief Minister maintained that violation of the SOPs will not be tolerated, as slackness will result in increasing cases and this could lead to extending the temporary restrictions. “To remain safe from the virus, the people need to be cautious and should follow the guidelines,” he advised.

Punjab Police has issued security plan for Eid gatherings in the province on Eid-ul-Fitr

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) There will be 36086 officers and personnel for security of 25249 mosques, imambargahs and 807 open spaces for Eid gatherings. 182 walk-through gates, 10923 metal detectors and 2680 CCTV cameras will also be used at sensitive locations. All possible support should be provided to the district administration and other government agencies in implementing the government directives regarding lockdown.

Police teams should pay special attention to security duties as well as implementation of Corona SOPs. IG Punjab. Lahore 11th May, 2021, Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani has said that all available resources would be utilized for the security of citizens and Eid gatherings at sensitive mosques, imambargahs and other places for maintaining law and order cum peace during Eid-ul-Fitr across the province. He further said that senior officers should pay attention for inspection of security arrangements for Eid gatherings of A category and sensitive mosques, Imambargahs and minority worship places police teams should also extend full cooperation to district administration and other government agencies in implementing government directives regarding lockdown during Eid holidays.

He further said that snipers must be deployed on the roofs of sensitive mosques, imambargahs and minority places of worship during security arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr gatherings while CTD, special police and other forces should be deployed in and around sensitive mosques, imambargahs and places of worship and undertake search, sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations in and around the slums. He further said that the patrolling of patrol forces in the vicinity of sensitive Eid gatherings should be further extended while special teams should be formed for the arrest of proclaimed offenders and crime control to provide all possible protection to the lives and property of citizens from criminal activities. He expressed these views while reviewing the security arrangements for Eid gatherings and giving instructions to the officers. Regarding Eid-ul-Fitr security arrangements, IG Punjab was informed that on Eid-ul-Fitr, 36086 officers and personnel including 256 Gazette inspectors, 522 Inspectors, 1731 Sub-inspectors, 3461 ASIs, 2508 head constables, 27608 constables would be on duty for security of 25249 mosques, Imambargahs and 807 open spaces in all districts of the province. Eid security duty will also include 5964 police national volunteers and 758 special police personnel, while 182 walk-through gates, 10923 metal detectors and 2680 CCTV cameras will be used for security of sensitive mosques and imambargahs and minority places of worship and ensure implementation of Eid security plan with true letter and spirit. IG Punjab while instructing the officers said that during the security arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr, the police force itself should ensure safety measures and implementation of SOPs to stay safe from Corona.

The mask should be considered an integral part of the uniform. He further said that crackdown on drug and liquor dealers especially those selling raw and poisonous liquor should be intensified so as to reduce the number of deaths due to poisonous liquor while protecting precious lives from kite flying, a preferential and intensified operations should be launched against manufacturer and sellers of kites and lethal chemical thread of kites. He further said that the officers and personnel on security duty on Eid-ul-Fitr should also be given effective briefing so that they can perform their duties efficiently. He further said that there should be no reduction in the provision of support to other agencies regarding government lockdown on Eid and senior officers should ensure all possible steps in this regard under personal supervision.

Pakistan reports 3,447 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours

NUT (WEB DESK) Pakistan has reported 78 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 861,473. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 18,993 on Monday.

According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 3,447 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Pakistan has conducted 37,756 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 3,447 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 9.12 percent.

CPHGC Distributes Food in the Holy Month of Ramazan

The ration bags were handed over by a CPHGC delegation, in the presence of BEPA officials, to the village elders of Allana Goth, Mangiyani Goth & Qadir Bukhsh Goth

Each bag contained essential ready to cook food supplies which included 10 kgs of flour, cooking oil, sugar, rice and tea.

Appreciating the efforts of CPHGC, Mr. Mahmood Anwar Ghadoor appreciated the timely gesture by the company. “It’s been a difficult time for everyone and with the Eid here by the end of the week, we are thankful to CPHGC for this gift of Ramazan for us. “

Following the distribution, Mr. Ren Lihui, CEO, CPHGC said, “We continue to work with the locals of villages around the CPHGC plant site in order to bring a meaningful difference in the lives of the deserving. In this time of need where even the smallest of contributions matter we have been helping the less privileged members of the society since before the start of commercial operations. Even during the pandemic we have been supporting the local government and the people of the villages around our plant site.”

CPHGC has an active CSR program and continues to be so during the current pandemic outbreak. Earlier the Company had distributed 1000kgs of disinfectants and 2000 masks to office of the Assistant Commissioner Hub as well as ration bags to the local population. 

During its construction phase the company has contributed to sustainable CSR initiatives that have helped better the lives of the people benefiting from them. These include the Floating Fishermen Jetty at Allana Goth; the Clean Hub City program; training of local students and provided them with employment at the Plant; providing relief supplies to the flood affected people of District Lasbella.
