In a notification issued by Secretary Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Department, the period of the posting of Jamal ud Din Shah would be four years. Covid in English camp: PCB in contact with ECB for players’ health
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been in close contact with the England and Wales Cricket Board regarding concerns about the health and safety of its players since the news of Covid-19 outbreak in the England camp was shared with it on late Monday evening. The PCB is satisfied by the assurances and guarantees provided by the ECB on behalf of its medical panel, and feels comfortable with the existing protocols that have been put in place to ensure all the Pakistan players and player support staff remain safe and secure throughout the duration of the series, which commences on Thursday, 8 July, in Cardiff”, said a spokesman for the PCB here on Thursday. Indian troops launched cordon search in IIOJK
ISLAMABAD: Violent cordon and search operations of Indian troops to be continued on Tuesday in different parts of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The troops continued the operation in Sunderbani area of Rajouri on eighth consecutive day, Kashmir Media Service reported. The search operations have been launched during last June 28 after an Indian army man was injured in an attack in the area. The troops also conducted operations in Doda town after a policeman was injured in a grenade blast near District Police Lines of the town. Meanwhile, the cordon and search operations and frisking continued in different areas of Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipore, Pulwama, Islamabad, Shopian, Kulgam, Poonch, Kishtwar and Jammu areas. Cordon and search operations were also conducted in Doda city, Baghwah, Desa, Bharat, Gundna, Kastigarh and other areas of Jammu region. Indian Army’s 10 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group of police participated in the operations.
China imports remain top among other countries: SBP
ISLAMABAD: China topped the list of countries from where Pakistan imported different products during the first eleven months of financial year (2020-21), followed by United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Singapore. The total imports from China during July-May (2020-21) were recorded at $11454.962 million against the $8255.990 million during July-May (2019-20), showing an increase of 38.74 percent during the period, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said. This was followed by UAE, where Pakistan imported goods worth $6199.069 million against the imports of $5976.483 million last year, showing an increase of 3.72 percent. Singapore was the at third top country from where Pakistan imported goods worth $2769.481 million against the imports of $2148.135 million last year, showing growth of 28.92 percent, SBP data revealed. Among other countries, Pakistani imports from United State of America (USA) stood at $2198.657 million against $2039.000 million during last year, showing growth of 7.83 percent while the imports from Saudi Arabia were recorded at $2106.018 million against $1250.810 million last year, showing increase of 68.37 percent, the data revealed. The imports from Kuwait were recorded at $1167.003 million against $984.636 million whereas the imports from Malaysia were recorded at $1094.860 million against $863.411 million last year. During July-May, the imports from South Korea were recorded at $1183.695 million against $672.884 million whereas the imports from Japan were recorded at $1372.124 million against $972.550 million whereas the imports from Switzerland stood at $1010.711 million against $566.923 million. Similarly, the imports from Germany during the period under review were recorded at $1018.080 million against $868.437 million while the imports from Thailand stood at $961.741 million against $657.015 million. Pakistan’s imports from Qatar were recorded at $1129.656 million during the current fiscal year compared to $1542.071 million last year, whereas the imports from UK stood at $682.009 million against $629.280 million.

LAHORE: Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Tuesday administered oath to Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti as Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) during a graceful ceremony at the Governor’s House here. He is 51st Chief Justice of LHC. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Khan Buzdar, Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat, Minister Housing Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed, Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Muhammad Abdul Aziz, Naval Station Commander Lahore Capt Amir Iqbal Khan PN, SACM Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Inam Ghani, judges of the LHC, Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), President, office bearers of Lahore High Court Bar Association, and a host of legal luminaries were present on the occasion. Mr. Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti was born on March 8,1962 and his date of retirement is March 7, 2024.Mr. Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti was born in a noble family at Burewala, District Vehari. After his early education from Multan, he obtained degree of Bachelor of Arts from the University of Punjab. With a clear vision of rule of law as bedrock of just and peaceful society that makes the institutions accountable and safeguard human rights, he opted for legal education. He completed his LLB in 1985 from Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan. The longstanding aspiration was translated into reality when he embarked on his journey as professional lawyer in the year 1986 and subsequently enrolled as an Advocate High Court in 1988. He pursued legal profession proactively and endeared himself to the members of Bar with his professionalism. It was out of sheer respect for his services and professional acumen that the members of High Court Bar Association Multan elected him as General Secretary (1999-2000). After a remarkable journey of keen and conscious practice in High Court, he became Advocate Supreme of Pakistan in 2001. In addition to his professional services in Pakistan, he remained member of International Bar Association London (1991-1994) and member of the American Bar Association (ABA) 2000-2002. After persistent diligence, proficiency, and continuous commitment towards profession of law spanning over almost 25 years, Mr. Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti was elevated to Lahore High Court, Lahore as an additional judge on 12.05.2011

LAHORE: District and Sessions Judge (D&SJ) Irfan Ahmad Saeed has been appointed as new registrar of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday. According to a LHC notification, Masood Arshad, D&SJ/ Judge, Anti-Terrorism Court-II Multan, has been transferred and posted as Director General, Directorate of District Judiciary. Whereas, Ch. Abdul Rashid Abid, D&SJ/Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Court Bahawalpur, has been transferred and posted as D&SJ (HR-District Judiciary). Muhammad Yar Walana, D&SJ/Senior Additional Registrar, LHC Multan Bench has been transferred and posted as Principal Staff Officer to LHC chief Justice. Malik Mushtaq Ahmad Ojla, D&SJ/ Registrar LHC, has been transferred and posted as District and Sessions Judge Kasur. Muhammad Saeed Ullah, D&SJ/ Director General, Directorate of District Judiciary, and Muhammad Javaidul Hassan Chishti, D&SJ/ D&SJ (HR-District Judiciary) has been asked to report to LHC for further orders.
Saudi Ministry says fully prepared for Hajj season
ISLAMABAD: The Saudi Arabia”s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has confirmed on Tuesday that it is fully prepared for this year’s Hajj season. Dr. Abdulfattah Mashat, deputy minister of Hajj and Umrah, stressed that the pace of work to ready the Kingdom’s holy sites will increase in the coming days, and all relevant sectors will complete the requirements for receiving pilgrims on time. “The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has long developed strategic and operational plans related to Hajj activities in cooperation with more than 30 entities, from various private, government and security sectors,” he added. In an interview, Mashat said that pilgrim residences at the holy sites are ready, as are gathering points around Makkah, stressing that there is an integrated plan to make this year’s season safe and secure, Arab News reported . Pilgrims’ tents at Arafat, as well as facilities in Mina and other areas where pilgrims will stay in Muzdalifah have all been inspected. “The environment this year will be different from the previous Hajj seasons. It will be a healthy environment, ensuring social distancing between the pilgrims during the entire journey, thanks to large camps allowing continuous air movement, thus eliminating any risks,” said Mashat. He pointed out that the Saudi government has created an integrated transportation network connecting all relevant sites across the region. “There will be buses transporting pilgrims from their residence to the arrival station,” he said. “The authorities are currently developing the final plan for transport with the security authorities, which will be revealed very soon, accompanied by an awareness program targeting pilgrims via their smart phones or through social media platforms. ”Mashat said pilgrims performing Hajj this season have never been on the pilgrimage before. “In June, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah began to receive applications. We received, in ten days, over 500,000 applications, while the target number was 60,000.“The applications were sorted according to a specific mechanism such as the readiness of the pilgrim physically, taking into account if they had already performed Hajj. The data was also sorted out by age groups, with priority initially given to those over 50 years of age from all nationalities residing in the Kingdom. ”The pilgrims were distributed across 190 companies offering three packages. Mashat said the chosen pilgrims will start arriving on July 17 and 18, and that buses that used to accommodate 50 pilgrims in the past will accommodate just 20 this year.
Engro implements solarization project at Aiwan-i-Sadr under Green Presidency Initiative
Karachi (Muhammad Yasir) A brainchild of His Excellency, The President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, the roll out of Green Presidency Initiative started off with an extensive sustainability and energy efficiency audit that culminated into successful execution of purpose-driven solutions. Under this initiative, Engro Energy – a subsidiary of Engro Corporation – installed a state-of-the-art 1 MW solar panel system at the Presidency that will help reduce carbon emissions by 1400 tons and contribute savings of around Rs 32 million to the national exchequer. For context, this is equivalent to planting 57,000 mature trees. With net metering, a 100 percent surplus energy is also being contributed to the national grid.
The Green Presidency initiative also qualifies for Green Building credits that have been achieved through sustainable practices including, rainwater management, water metering, waste management and self-sustaining vegetation. The initiative is part of the PTI Government’s long-term sustainability agenda being propelled through a multitude of projects across the country.

Pakistan’s future linked to Gwadar as ‘focal point of development’: PM
GWADAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said the future of Pakistan belonged to Gwadar emerging as the ‘focal point of development’ and ensuring prosperity for the entire country.
Addressing at the launch of development projects and the signing ceremony of Memoranda of Understanding here in the port city, the prime minister said Gwadar would open up new avenues of opportunities for regional trade.
The prime minister who arrived in Gwadar on a day-long visit inaugurated the first phase of Gwadar Free Zone besides performing the groundbreaking of the its second phase spread at 2,200 acres and opening of three factories.
The prime minister said his vision of an emerging Pakistan was a steadfast nation which was committed to the prosperity of the country.
He said the government was focused on ensuring provision of basic amenities in Gwadar and Balochistan, particularly clean water and electricity to encourage industrialization.
He said the recently announced Rs 730 billion development budget for Balochistan by the federal government was historic, that aimed at uplift of the province and also to mitigate the longstanding deprivation of its people.
“No country can progress unless it mainstreams all its areas and ensure development across the board,” he said, adding that connectivity was one of the major component of the Balochistan package.
Imran Khan said the government was prioritizing development in far-flung areas of Balochistan, northern areas and rural Punjab.
The prime minister mentioned that Gwadar International Airport would encourage regional trade and boost economic activity.
He said one-window operation was in progress to facilitate the investors and urged upon the provincial governments to ensure proper servicing of investors since the subject moved to them after the passage of 18the Amendment.
Imran Khan thanked the government of China for launch of water and solar projects in Balochsitan, particularly in Gwadar.
“Pakistan can benefit from its strategic location and also from the expertise of its friend China, which is the becoming an economic power in the region,” he said.
He also mentioned the technical education provided by China to the youth of Gwadar, which he said, would prove greatly helpful as the foreign investment grew in future.
The prime minister mentioned several initiatives for the uplift of Gwadar including the university, employment under Kamyab Jawan Programme, and the upgradation of the equipment of local fishermen to ensure value addition of their catch.
He said the Prime Minister Office would regularly monitor the progress on the development plans initiated in Gwadar on a monthly basis.
