Sale of fake Covid-19 vaccination certificates on rise.

Lahore (Nut-Desk)

Despite the 4th and deadly wave of corona pandemic, it is very hearting that sale of fake Covid-19 vaccination certificates on rise  in Pakistan and those people who did not want to be vaccinated, are availing these certificates from fraudsters. It seems that government’s extensive Covid-19 vaccination campaign, many people were still reluctant to be vaccinated against Covid.

“The general impression we have about vaccinations is that maybe any kind of vaccination leads to male infertility. The same impression was there about vaccines that work against polio,” it is learnt.

News update Times  learnt that the fraudsters have been sending mass marketing messages through various SMS portals and WhatsApp groups — wherein many of the messages went viral — claiming that anyone could get a National Database and Registration Authority-verified certificate after paying a certain amount to the fraudsters.

It was also claimed in the messages by the counterfeiters that if the buyer received the certificate from them after making the payments, he/she could send his/her CNIC number to the National Immunization Management System number, 1166, and the data would both only verify that he/she was vaccinated as well as allow the person to get the NADRA Covid-19 Certificate through its online portal.

It is pertinent to mention here that the fraudsters were only selling certificates and not vaccinations and this offer was for those who did not want to be vaccinated.

The counterfeiters were claiming that the CanSino vaccine certificate was available for Rs20,000 and the verification of a single-shot of the Sinovac vaccine was available for Rs15,000 while the double-shot was for Rs30,000.

Similarly, the counterfeiters were also claiming that they had a single-shot certificate of Sinopharm vaccine available for Rs15,000 while one could supposedly buy a double-shot certificate for Rs30,000.

Moreover, the scammers also purported that one could purchase a Moderna vaccine single-shot certificate for Rs15,000 and the double-shot version for Rs28,000. The certificate of AstraZeneca vaccine single-shot was being sold for Rs17,000 and the double-shot was for Rs35,000. Similarly, Rs20,000 was charged for a Pfizer vaccine single-shot certificate and Rs30,000 for a double-shot certificate.

Corona death toll crosses 24,000 mark.

Lahore (Nut-Desk)

During previous 24 hours, 86 more people have died in Pakistan due to the ongoing fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic, after which the death toll has crossed 24,000. The National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) daily numbers showed that 49,506 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours. Of these, 3,884 came back positive.

According to the NCOC, the positivity rate now stands at 7.84%.

The number of deaths from coronavirus in the country has crossed 24,000 and reached 24,004 and the total number of cases has reached 1,075,504.

In addition to this, 2,669 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 967,073, while the number of active cases is 84,427.

A day earlier, it was reported that Pakistan has been recording a slow decline in its daily COVID-19 numbers over the last few days.

According to NCOC’s stats, the positivity rate, daily cases and deaths fell Monday. There is a small downward trend in daily numbers, however, active cases continue to increase with the latest figure recorded at 84,427 cases.

Infant Survival Requires Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding helps provide the baby’s initial dose of immunity, protecting the infant from deadly illnesses and death. When you are born, breastfeed (only) for the first hour. Once that hour is up, use an additional feeding method (besides breastfeeding) for a set period of time (up to 5 months) and continue breastfeeding for an additional period of time (up to 23 months). All three methods offer an important line of defence against childhood malnutrition, including malnutrition from being wasted.

Breastfeeding not only saves lives, but also protects infants from dangerous diseases.

Not receiving enough breast milk in the first two years of life increases the likelihood of diarrheal disease and an increased likelihood of early death in developing nations. A significant percentage of diarrhoea episodes and a third of respiratory infections might be prevented if women received assistance to breastfeed. Breastfeeding is clearly the most efficient health measure, making it a powerful public health intervention. We have to ensure that every kid has the greatest possible start in life. Maternity and newborn infants are human rights, and the right to them should be safeguarded and advanced.

In the past four decades, exclusive breastfeeding has seen a 50% rise. Therefore, an estimated 900 million babies across the world have benefitted from exclusive breastfeeding in the first year of life. Despite the plentiful and persuasive data, many nations’ breastfeeding rates are dangerously low. Less than half of newborn newborns are nursed in the first hour of life, losing out entirely on the advantages of nursing to survive and develop.

Even now, 40 years after the bill was enacted, the Code is as relevant as it was when it was introduced on May 21st, 2021.

As required by the World Health Assembly and its member nations, we encourage producers of baby formula to follow the CODE requirements.

As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, several nations have found that access to infant and child feeding services has been greatly disrupted, potentially reversing some of the progress that has been achieved in certain places.

It is baseless for baby food marketers to suggest that nursing may transmit COVID-19, however, in light of the current COVID-19 epidemic, there is no need to stop breastfeeding. It is absolutely obvious to me. Even when the mother is known or suspected to have COVID-19, breastfeeding is safe for young children. Overall, the dangers connected with the virus exceed the significant advantages of breastfeeding.

Studies have demonstrated that breastfed infants are not at risk of being infected with SARS-CoV-2 via breastmilk. WHO and other organisations such as the CDC, UNICEF, and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists all advise women to continue to breastfeed their babies if they have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

COVID-19 vaccinations have been recommended by WHO for breastfeeding mothers, as well as other people. People who are nursing or expressing milk at the moment CAN get the vaccinations.

A mother’s health is inextricably linked to the health of her baby.

Though research on COVID-19 vaccines examined the effects of mRNA and non-replicating vaccines on breastfeeding women and on their breastfed children, it did not examine breastfeeding women or account for the effects of mRNA or non-replicating vaccines on breastfed children or the effects of mRNA or non-replicating vaccines on them.

As an example, however, without any evidence, it is impossible to say whether or not the vaccination is safe for nursing mothers and their infants. WHO advises that women who have received the COVID-19 vaccination may continue breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding Week 2018, which ran from April 1 to April 7, focused on highlighting everyone’s responsibility in helping promote breastfeeding, at every level.

Everyday citizens, governments, and aid organisations all have a role to play in solving the global malnutrition crisis. These groups should all pledge significant financial resources in order to have an impact in tackling the global malnutrition crisis over the next two years, especially in regard to the upcoming UN Food Systems Summit in September and the Nutrition for Growth Summit in December of 2021.

They should also display action in terms of concrete commitments by making toward promoting and supporting breastfeeding to the fullest extent possible.

With comprehensive legislative measures implemented and independently monitoring the compliance of health professionals and health facilities, governments must completely implement the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitute.

Family-friendly policies such as offering at least 18 weeks of paid maternity leave should be put in place for both businesses and employers.

Returning to work is sometimes a roadblock for new moms who want to breastfeed and provide their children with the greatest possible nutrition.

Donors should provide more money for the implementation of the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes, breastfeeding assistance, and counseling programmers.

COVID-19 vaccination certificate mandatory for domestic air travel.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Saturday declared COVID-19 vaccination certificates mandatory for domestic air travel. The country’s apex COVID-19 body urged the public to get vaccinated by July 31 in order to circumvent any inconvenience.

According to NCOC, from August 1, travellers will be required to carry proof of vaccination when taking domestic flights. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issued a notification in this regard, saying that it has communicated these guidelines to all airlines.

“From August 1, those people seeking to board domestic flights who are not vaccinated will not be allowed to travel,” the notification said. It stated that this restriction applies to all individuals aged 18 and above.

The development comes as a slight drop was recorded in the daily cases and death counts Saturday morning.

Pakistan’s coronavirus positivity ratio has fallen and now stands at 4.89%.According to the latest data from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on its official web portal, at least 32 more people succumbed to the coronavirus on Friday, taking the total death tally to 22,971.

In the last 24 hours, 37,636 coronavirus tests were conducted across the country, out of which 1,841 came back positive. In addition to this, 924,782 people have recovered from the virus in the country so far, whereas the number of active cases stands at 54,122 as of today morning.

However, a dip in numbers are not meant to be seen as a sign that the threat from the virus is diminishing. It must be remembered that just a day earlier, Pakistan became the 30th country to cross the grim milestone of 1 million cases.

NCOC chief Asad Umar in a post on Twitter today, urged people to follow coronavirus-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) and get themselves vaccinated against the virus, warning the “risk is not over”.
