Apple Inc plans to spend more than $500 million on marketing its streaming service, Apple TV+, this year, The Information reported on Friday, by reliable sources,

The iPhone maker also intends to significantly increase its output of new TV shows and movies to at least one a week in 2022, more than double its pace this year, according to The Information, which cited another person familiar with the matter.

Apple’s move to splurge on content and marketing comes as it tries to fiercely compete with established players, including Netflix Inc (NFLX.O), Walt Disney Co’s (DIS.N) Disney+ and Amazon.com Inc’s (AMZN.O) Prime Video.

Arrest warrants issued for Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed

A judicial magistrate in Lahore has issued arrest warrants for actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed in connection with a case pertaining to shooting of a music video in the historic Wazir Khan mosque.

According to media News, the warrants were issued for the pair for their failure to appear before the court. Last month, The Akbari Gate police registered the case against the duo on the complaint of lawyer Farhat Manzoor.

The FIR was registered under Section 295 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The case was registered on a court order. A short clip of Qamar and Saeed at the historic mosque went viral on social media. The video drew strong reactions from religious circles.

Saba Qamar responded to the criticism in a series of tweets, saying the clip was a “prologue to the music video featuring a Nikkah scene. It was neither shot with any sort of playback music nor has it been edited to the music track,” she said on Twitter.

Qamar and Saeed had also apologized for the incident and issued explanations that shed further light on the video shoot’s context.

Ahsan Khan and Ayesha Omar wrap up rom-com ” Rehbra”

Actors Ayesha Omar and Ahsan Khan recently wrapped up the shoot for their upcoming film ‘Rehbra’, which was due to release in 2017.

The singer and actor shared a picture on her Instagram to share the completion of the shoot. “And that’s a wrap,” wrote Omar.

Rehbra is a romantic-comedy directed by Amin Iqbal and produced by Saira Afzal. Ahsan had revealed in earlier interviews that the film was a ‘love story with a twist’, and said in 2017 that 95% of the film was done. The shooting for the remaining parts was then paused due to unknown reasons.

In 2020, however, Omar shared that the shooting was resumed, posting a picture with co-star Ahsan on her Instagram.

It seems this time the film is finally complete, although the release date has not been announced yet.

This isn’t the only project currently in the works for Ayesha Omar. The Karachi Se Lahore actor is also starring alongside Yasir Hussain in Javed Iqbal. The Untold Story of a Serial Killer, in which she plays an intrepid and determined police officer investigating the serial killer and tracking down his accomplice.

Atif Aslam and Ameer Gillani collaborated for Defense Day Special Song

Atif Aslam and Ameer Gilani collaborate for a new song which released on occasion of Defence Day. The Sabaat actor shared the news of upcoming song on his Instagram. He posted a picture alongside Atif Aslam, saying it’s an honour working with the great singer.

“Marked one off the bucket list,” wrote Gilani.

The release is an ISPR project, directed by Mohsin Kamal and produced by Rock n Roll production. A behind-the-scenes picture was shared by the production, featuring Ameer Gilani and Mahrunisa Iqbal.

“We have a ‘Paighaam’ for you tomorrow InshaAllah,” Gilani wrote.

Clothing brand ‘Souchaj’, which created the custom khaki sherwani Atif Aslam is wearing in the music video as well as the Defence Day ceremony held at the General Headquarters on Monday, also shared a picture from the set.

Ali Zafar pays tribute to Brave warriors on Defence Day

Pakistani singer-songwriter Ali Zafar in collaboration with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has released a new song titled “Mein Ura” to pay tribute to the “heroes of the Pakistan Air Force” on Defence Day.

Sharing a small teaser of the song along with a link to full Youtube video, Ali Zafar wrote on his Instagram, “Hey guys!  Mein Ura is out now. A tribute to our brave warriors in the air defending us day and night.” The song has been uploaded on the Pakistan Air Force s YouTube channel.

“To commemorate the victory of 1965 War, Pakistan Air Force has released a song titled  Mein Ura ,” reads the caption of the PAF s Youtube post.

“The song has been sung by renowned singer Ali Zafar. The song features impressive visuals of Pakistani pilots flying fighters jets across the skies based on theme of paying homage to the incredibly brave services of the heroes of PAF, who fought for the safety of this motherland during the 1965 War,” it added.

“One of the most thrilling experiences. To sing for our brave warriors in the sky,” Ali Zafar had tweeted earlier.

Defense and Martyrs’ Day is being observed today to pay tributes to the martyrs and Ghazis of the 1965 war and reaffirm commitment to defend the motherland against all threats.It was on this day in 1965 that the Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation foiled nefarious designs of the enemy.

This year’s Defense and Martyrs’ Day theme is “Our martyrs our pride, salute to all the relatives belonging to ghazis and Shaheeds.”

Faysal Quraishi urges fans to vote for him in Lux Style Awards 2021

Pakistani actor and host Faysal Quraishi, who has been nominated for Lux Style Awards 2021 in best actor category for his outstanding performance in Geo Entertainment’s drama serial Muqaddar, has urged his fans to vote.

Taking to Instagram, Faysal shared Abdullah Kadwani’s post in his Story and urged the fans to vote for their favourite actor.

Faysal Quraishi has been nominated for Best Male Actor – Viewer’s Choice award for his drama serial Muqaddar along with Danish Taimoor (Deewangi), Hamza Ali Abbasi (Alif) and Imran Ashraf (Kahin Deep Jalay).

Muqaddar, directed by Shehrazade Sheikh and co-produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment, premiered on Geo Entertainment on 17 February 2020.

Geo Entertainment is leading the nominations list of the LSA 2021 with a total of 25 nods.

Call for Oscar Submission for Pakistan Filmmakers 2021 announced!

The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee invites Pakistani filmmakers to submit their films for Oscar consideration in the ‘International Feature Film Award’ category for the 94th Academy Awards by 20th September 2021, 5:00 PM [PST]. This will mark the ninth consecutive submission by the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee having previously submitted “Zinda Bhaag” in 2013, “Dukhtar” in 2014, “MOOR” in 2015, “Mah-e-Mir” in 2016, “Saawan” in 2017, “Cake” in 2018, “Lal Kabootar” in 2019 and “Zindagi Tamasha” in 2020 to represent the best of Pakistani cinema for award consideration in the ‘International Feature Film’ category.

The Oscar committee for 2021 is chaired by two-time Academy Award and Emmy winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and includes Ali Azmat [Musician], Bee Gul [Screenwriter and Director], Humayun Saeed [Actor, Director and Producer], Jawed Sheikh [Actor, Producer and Director], Mo Azmi [Cinematographer], Omar Shahid Hamid [Author], Rafay Mahmood [Film Critic], Samina Ahmad [Actress, Producer and Director] and Sania Saeed [Actress].

The committee will choose one film as Pakistan’s official submission for the, International Feature Film Award’. An international film is defined as a feature-length motion picture (over 40 minutes) produced outside the United States of America and its territories with a predominantly (more than 50%) non-English dialogue track. Animated and documentary feature films are permitted.

The unprecedented coronavirus/COVID-19 global pandemic mandated the closure of commercial motion picture theaters worldwide. Country-selected films that had a previously planned theatrical release but are initially made available through a reputable commercial streaming distribution service or video on demand may qualify for Awards consideration in the International Feature Film category for the 94th Academy Awards under these provisions:

  • Provide to the Academy Committee documentation (original document(s) and an English translation) of government-mandated theater/cinema closure dates, previously planned theatrical release and streaming distribution or video on demand agreements.
  • The film be made available on the secure Academy Screening Room member site within 60 days of the film being officially selected.
  • That it meets all other eligibility requirements.

When theaters reopen in accordance with national and local specified guidelines and criteria, and on a date to be determined by the Academy, this rules exemption will no longer apply. All films released thereafter will be expected to comply with the standard International Feature Film category theatrical qualifying requirements.

The criteria for eligibility is as follows:

  1. The country-selected film must be first released in the country of origin no earlier than January 1, 2021, and no later than December 31, 2021, and be first publicly exhibited for at least seven consecutive days in a commercial motion picture theater for the profit of the producer and exhibitor. Submissions must be in 35mm or 70mm film, or in a 24- or 48-frame progressive scan Digital Cinema format with a minimum projector resolution of 2048 by 1080 pixels, source image format conforming to ST 428-1:2006 D-Cinema Distribution Master – Image Characteristics; image compression (if used) conforming to ISO/IEC 15444-1 (JPEG 2000); and image and sound files packaged as Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) in the “SMPTE DCP” format. SMPTE DCP refers to SMPTE ST 429-2 and related specifications. (Blu-ray format does not meet Digital Cinema requirements.)

The audio in a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) is typically 5.1 or 7.1 channels of discrete audio. The minimum for a non-mono configuration of the audio shall be three channels as Left, Center, Right (a Left/Right configuration is not acceptable in a theatrical environment). In addition to channel-based audio, object-based audio may also be present as an immersive audio bitstream.

The audio data shall be formatted in conformance with ST 428-2:2006 D-Cinema Distribution Master – Audio Characteristics and ST 428-12:2013 D-Cinema Distribution Master Common Audio Channels and Soundfield Groups. Immersive audio, if present, shall be formatted in conformance with ST 2098-2:2019 Immersive Audio Bitstream Specification.

  1. The film must be advertised and exploited during its qualifying theatrical release in a manner considered normal and customary to theatrical feature distribution practices. The film need not have been released in the United States.
  2. Films that, in any version, receive a nontheatrical public exhibition or distribution before their first qualifying theatrical release will not be eligible for Academy Awards consideration. Nontheatrical public exhibition or distribution includes but is not limited to:
    • Broadcast and cable television
    • PPV/VOD
    • DVD distribution
    • Inflight airline distribution
    • Internet transmission
  3. The recording of the original dialogue track as well as the completed picture must be predominantly (more than 50%) in a language or languages other than English. ACCURATE, LEGIBLE ENGLISH-LANGUAGE SUBTITLES ARE REQUIRED.

The Pakistani Academy Selection Committee will announce its nomination for award consideration 20th October 2021.

Saba Qamar teams up with Urduflix for web series

Acclaimed Pakistani TV and film actress Saba Qamar Zaman has teamed up with country’s digital entertainment channel Urduflix for a web series project. The upcoming project for Urduflix will be the Baghi starlet’s second web series for this year. Directed by Saqib Khan, the web series will be a love triangle, a romantic comedy with a thrilling angle.

While the rest of the cast of the web series is yet to be finalized, Qamar has been signed on as the lead. Earlier this year, Qamar finished shooting for Mann Jogi, a web series for Zee5, opposite actors, Agha Mustafa Hassan and Noman Ijaz.

The upcoming series will be produced by Emax Media and available on the streaming site.

Now, once again, Hareem s dance video is going viral on social media in which she is seen dancing to the songs of the Indian film “Hum Dil De Chake Sanam”.

Earlier, the video posted on Hareem Shah s TikTok and Instagram accounts, she was dancing to the famous song Bismillah Karan. In this video, Hareem Shah was in a room that looks like an office. The room also has two other flags in the background with Turkish and Pakistani flags. The video shows a chair lying on one side and a laptop on the front desk.
