FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan joins hands with UVAS to Establish “Pakistan–Netherlands Dairy Development Center (PNDDC)

Karachi (Muhammad Yasir) FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited (FCEPL), subsidiary of the Dutch multinational corporative Royal FrieslandCampina in the Netherlands, is establishing the novel Pakistan–Netherlands Dairy Development Center (PNDDC). 
The PNDDC is set to be a premier precompetitive platform with the signature ‘grass to glass’ philosophy underlying FCEPL’s corporate vision – collaboration and integration between industry, experts, academia, and the government.
The agreement Memo was signed between the founding partners; FCEPL and University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in a ceremony held in Islamabad in attendance of Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, global leadership of FrieslandCampina and Dutch Ambassador.
Syed Fakhar Imam, the Federal Minister for Food Security & Research witnessed the ceremony and appreciated the approach and initiatives of FCEPL, “I am impressed with the work of FrieslandCampina towards dairy development in Pakistan, which is helping to improve food security and livelihood especially in rural settings.”

The Pakistan Netherlands Dairy Development Center will contribute to the improvement of production, food security, quality, food-safety, and sustainability throughout the dairy value chain of the Pakistan dairy sector.  
The center will be located at UVAS and the commencement of operations will begin soon with a detailed 5-year operational plan and activities. 
With its partners PNDDC will undertake a variety of activities which include, research and innovation on breeding, feeding, quality and safety of milk; strategic and policy studies; publication of white paper on dairy landscape in Pakistan; running expertise centers; and various capacity building (training) programs. 
Moreover, PNDDC would also commence exchange programs, incorporating knowledge and expertise from Netherlands, through arranging expert missions and Farmer2Farmer missions – Dutch farmers and experts would visit Pakistan for guidance and hands-on assistance of local farmers, meanwhile Pakistani farmers will visit Netherlands for hands-on training. The center would also manage deployment of academic talent (research sponsorship for Pakistani students) at the Netherlands or the countries with comparable challenges & opportunities as Pakistan.

Huawei ranked among Top 10 Most Valuable Brands of 2022among 500 Other International Brands

Brand Finance has named Huawei among the top 10 most valuable brands for 2022 in its recently published Brand Finance Global 500 2022 report, jumping up 6 places from 2021 despite facing many unforeseen challenges.

The Chinese tech giant has ranked the world’s 9th most valuable brand for 2022. Its brand value improvement defies the odds amidst the heavy scrutiny it faces from the US.

Huawei managed to reclaim its place amongst the top 10 brands, despite its smartphone business suffering heavily from multiple US sanctions. Huawei however continues to provide various products to global consumers. Brand Finance attributes Huawei’s brand growth to its commitment to innovation, by heavily investing in domestic technology companies and R&D, as well as turning its focus to the electric car business while continuing to strengthen its cloud services.Huawei managed to reclaim its place among the top 10 most valuable brands in the world, following 29% growth to US$71.2 billion. Huawei’s smartphone business was hit hard by US sanctions, but it reacted positively by heavily stepping up investment in both domestic technology companies and R&D, as well as turning its focus to cloud services.

Although Huawei’s smartphone market share fell drastically, Huawei’s other businesses are facing exponential growth. Ever since Huawei got restricted by the US sanctions, the company has been branching out into other businesses, such as Smart TVs, Smartwatches and Smart Electric Cars as well. Huawei collaborated with the famous car manufacturer, Seres, to launch its premium hybrid electric smart car series, AITO, with the first model being the AITO M5.

Every year, Brand Finance puts 5,000 of the biggest brands to the test, and publish nearly 100 reports, ranking brands across all sectors and countries. The world’s top 500 most valuable and strongest brands are included in the annual Brand Finance Global 500 ranking – now in its 16th year.As a whole, the tech sector is once again revealed to be the most valuable industry, with a cumulative brand value of close to US$1.3 trillion in the Brand Finance Global 500 rankings.

Easypaisa launches its first mini-app with GrocerApp for grocery delivery

Huawei’s rotating chairman Guo Ping announces plans to build a new cloud region in Saudi Arabia during LEAP 2022

The executive confirms commitment to support digital transformation in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East region

Lahore (Muhammad Yasir) Speaking to attendees at LEAP 2022 technology innovation conference on Tuesday, Huawei’s rotating chairman Mr. Guo Ping said that Huawei would soon build a cloud region in Saudi Arabia. The hosting of the HUAWEI CLOUD region in the Middle East will boost local businesses and governments’ ability to access more robust and secure cloud services from Huawei.

The new cloud region will create new social and economic value in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East in line with their digital development strategies. Guo noted Saudi Arabia has already confirmed plans to become one of the world’s top 20 tech economies and in turn diversify its national industries. “Going digital is now a key global consensus,“ noted Guo. “Over the past three years alone, many global enterprises have fully embraced digitalization, with the top 10% of these organizations growing their revenue as much as five times faster than those who have not embraced digitalization. Huawei’s own customers, partners, and developers can rely on our services to help industries in the region go digital.” The rotating chairman’s participation in the inaugural LEAP conference shows Huawei’s commitment to participate in and help the digital transformation in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.

Huawei is already an active contributor in Saudi’s digital transformation process, Ping highlighted, as the company have helped local carriers connect over 5.5 million people in remote areas. Systems Limited and IBA Karachi sign an MoU for collaborative technical advancement

President of Pakistan Business Forum Lahore Muhammad Ijaz Tanveer said that the visit of the Prime Minister would further strengthen the friendship and economic ties between the two countries. He said that during this visit, agreements should be signed between Pakistan and China with Chinese government and Chinese industrialists and investors for timely construction of industrial zones under C-Pack and completion and functionalization of already approved industrial zones. He further said that Pakistan should also sign agreements with China for the transfer of technology so that Pakistan could enter the era of manufacturing instead of becoming an importer. He said that large scale industries as well as small scale industries should be given space in the proposed industrial zones as the operation of small and allied industries would accelerate the pace of industrial development as well as reduce the input cost of new jobs and industries.
