ECB Chief apologies, announces England’s full tour of Pakistan

Lahore (NUT-DESK)

England Cricket Board chief Ian Watmore has tendered an apology after controversially cancelling the team’s tour of Pakistan.

England, who were scheduled to feature in two T20Is on October 13 and 14, called off their tour citing concerns of mental and physical well-being of players and support staff. The women’s cricket team was also set to play two T20Is and three ODIs from October 13 to 21 in Rawalpindi.

“I’m very sorry to anyone who feels hurt or let down by our decision, particularly in Pakistan,” Watmore told Daily Mail. He reiterated that the decision was made with the primary consideration being the welfare and mental health of our players and staff.

Watmore announced that ECB is looking forward to a proper tour of Pakistan next year. “We’ve recommitted to a proper tour and we will have longer to plan that trip,” he added.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry also welcomed ECB’s decision, stating that it is a welcome step.

Ayeza shares ‘unfulfilled wish’ on Imran Abbas’ hoodie challenge video

Lahore (NUT-DESK)

Imran Abbas, who keeps his followers hooked to Instagram with his singing and cross-border banter, has posted a video of him taking the “Touch It Crazy Hoodie Challenge”. It requires a person to change into as many hoodies as possible, but only in seconds. People appear to be banging their heads on a solid surface (mostly wooden tables) as they whip on different colours and emerge seemingly dizzy. The challenge is popular on both TikTok and SnackVideo.

Imran too made sure he could grab as many colours in the video as possible but he doesn’t appear giddy at all. Instead, he just pulls back the hood, evens his hair and walks away in style.

Imran’s version of the challenge has crossed more than 460,000 views in a day, and comments under the post show that he didn’t fail to entertain.

But what may catch your attention instantly is Ayeza Khan’s comment which hints that Imran needs plenty of time to get ready for shoot.

“I was saying…” Ayeza started. “It would be amazing if you got ready for the scene just as fast on the set.”

Bond is back: ‘No Time To Die’ set to release in UK’s cinemas today.

Lahore (NUT-DESK)

No Time To Die, the latest film in the James Bond franchise, held its world premiere in London on Tuesday, a glamorous affair attended by the movie’s cast, high profile British socialites and members of the royal family. The film will release in cinema across United Kingdom today on 30th September.

No Time To Die, the 25th Bond film, has been delayed three times since its original April 2020 slot as movie theatres around the world were forced to shut their doors as well as impose audience number restrictions due to the pandemic.

The Universal Pictures and MGM film, part of one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises, marks Craig’s fifth and final outing as the suave British secret agent, wrapping up a 15-year tenure that began with 2006’s Casino Royale.

“It’s such a great relief. It was so important to me to come and celebrate with all the other cast and crew and to get it into the cinemas and we’re here,” Craig told Reuters. “A year ago I didn’t think that was going to happen.”

Asked what he was going to miss the most from playing 007, he said: “The people.” Costing an estimated $200 million to produce, No Time To Die sees Bond come out of retirement in Jamaica to help track down a new villain, described by Oscar winner Malek as “mischievous (and) devious”, and armed with lethal technology.

The film introduces 00 agent Nomi, played by Lynch, who said: “I’m just happy it’s here and we get to celebrate it in the way that it deserves.” Also at the premiere were Britain’s Prince Charles and his son Prince William and their wives. To appreciate their frontline work during the pandemic, health workers and members of the armed forces were also invited.

Former Bond actress Judi Dench and Grammy Award winner Billie Eilish, who sings the film’s theme tune, also attended. Beginning its cinema rollout this week, No Time To Die is among the most anticipated movies this autumn.

“I know the world is expecting this film,” said Seydoux, who reprises her Spectre role as Madeleine Swann. “We gave everything to this film … and I hope people will love it.” Expectations are high after the last two Bond films, 2015’s Spectre and 2012’s Skyfall, grossed $880 million and more than $1 billion globally.

“Now that the cinemas are open we’re really happy to be supporting the industry,” producer Barbara Broccoli said. “We made this film for the cinema and we want people to enjoy it.”

The studio’s games, which are available on Sony’s PlayStation, Microsoft’s Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PCs, will be the first non-mobile titles in the streaming giant’s newly created video game portfolio.

“Like our shows and films, these games will all be included as part of your Netflix membership — all with no ads and no in-app purchases,” the company said.

Netflix had mentioned its plans to enter gaming during its last quarterly earnings, as newer players including Disney+ and HBO Max have been rapidly gaining subscribers, intensifying competition in the streaming landscape.

WhatsApp will stop working on older Android phones after October 2020

Lahore (NUT-DESK)

WhatsApp has been in the news this year for releasing a plethora of features for its more than 2 billion users across the world. The year saw some of the most anticipated features from the Facebook-owned messaging app such as Dark Mode feature, Disappearing Messages option, WhatsApp Business app enhancements and more.

However, WhatsApp has always maintained that “For the best experience, we recommend you use the latest software version of Android or iOS and all other compatible software.”

Thus, come 2021, WhatsApp will stop working on a number of smartphones. As updated on the FAQ support page of the Facebook-owned messaging app, there are several Android and iOS phones that may not be able to run the app as the company will withdraw support for older versions of OS from next year.

WhatsApp is used to removing the support for specific Android versions. This is a common technique because developers always prefer to support the newest OS updates, and it’s hard to always support old versions. It’s the case of Android OS 4.0.4 and older versions: WhatsApp has announced that they will no longer support Android phones running those versions after a new WhatsApp beta for Android update.

What can you do to continue using WhatsApp on those versions? Unfortunately, you won’t be able to update WhatsApp after November 1, 2021, and your current WhatsApp update is going to expire after a certain date.

You need to switch to a new Android device on a supported Android version if your device is old, so be sure to back up your chat history. Note that WhatsApp is also going to support chat history migration from Android to iOS in a future update if you’re interested to switch to iPhone.
